I was very pleased with the work that Steve did when he replaced the front deck and steps. He obtained the proper materials quickly after he gave me a clear quote for the job. In hiring Steve and his help last year it was a privilege to have worked with him. Steve after being shown the work to be given to him; came back with his contract bid well laid out. He is very articulate in his planning in how he is going to tackle the work. Steve McCuaig and his help came on board in the summer of 2009. There was a massive amount of repair work needed to bring the exterior and interior of our building to fire code and repair. Steve professionally approached all areas of his work in a worthy manor so as not to waste time, material or money. His quotes were true to cost. If there was a problem that was not seen beforehand he would walk me through it and we would together decide what to do. He itemized everything neatly in a very organized way so that you had no problem seeing where funing was spent or hours needed. But not only is he polished in what he does as far as information; the work he did unsupervised was excellent, so in this I have no problem recommending his to any site that wants a good carpenter who knows and cares about what he does when it comes to his craft. When the building inspector is happy, so are we.

We contracted Steve to do a tricky job of completely restoring two decks on either end of our veranda, the removal of our old basement entry door and fabrication of a new door. We were entirely satisfied with the high quality of work done which was within budget and on time. As with all renovations to older homes, there is the inevitable arising! With each challenge Steve tackled them head on. He informed us ahead of time of his plan and completed the repairs without fanfare. Indeed our problems arose because of a poor design which Steve corrected giving us better decks and a superior much easier to open door. We would not hesitate to recommend McCuaig Construction for any job big or small.
